the computing equivalent of God: sits on a cloud, you can't see it but you`re supposed to trust it with your personal stuff. Cloud computing means you can put the burden of maintaining the infrastructure needed for your app to run on someone else aka cloud service providers. You pay a subscription, they give you all the computing power you need (think server farms) and storage space. Everything exclusively online. Cloud computing also works great for load balancing, since it can allocate resources among multiple application servers running in a cloud environment. And it can do so on demand.
Old-school developer: “I can't even walk around with my head in the clouds these days. I might be accused of a data breach.”
